Since cricket is a world popular game we all always wanted to know and learn what are the technology used in cricket. How does umpire knows the ball touched the bat or not. how does we get the sky views. How does the speed of the ball is measured. So today we are here with the information of which types of technology are used in cricket so we get the most entertainment.
1)Hawk-Eye
It uses six specially placed cameras around the ground to track the path of the ball, from when it was released from the bowler's hand right up until when it's dead. The images captured by the camera are then turned into a 3D image by a special computer to show how the ball will travel on an imaginary cricket pitch.
2)Hotspot
Hot spot is an infrared imaging system used in cricket to determine whether the ball has struck the batsman, bat or pad. Hot Spot requires two infrared cameras on opposite sides of the ground above the field of play that are continuously recording an image.
3)Snick-O-Meter
The snickometer is composed of a very sensitive microphone located in one of the stumps, connected to an oscilloscope that measures sound waves. When the ball touches the bat, the oscilloscope trace will pick up the sounds. At the same time, a high speed camera records the ball passing the bat.
4)Umpire Light Meter
It is a device having a light sensor at one end a window at the other end which displays the reading that indicates the current light conditions. To use the light meter, the umpire will stand at one end of the pitch and point it towards the sight screen to take the reading.
5)Speed-Gun
The speed gun is a device that measure the speed of the ball from one end of the pitch to the other and is thus used to calculate the speed at which the bowler delivers the ball. The device relays a beam from the radar head, which detects movement across the entire length of the pitch.
6)Spider-Cam
The spider cam is a system which enables film and television cameras to move both vertically and horizontally over a predetermined area, typically the playing filed of a sporting event such as a cricket pitch, football field or a tennis.
